‘Volunteer Gardener’ News: Season Premiere and Troy Marden Garden Tour

A new season of Volunteer Gardener starts Thursday, March 23, 2017 with a three-episode mini marathon beginning at 7:30 p.m. The first show, the season premiere, includes segments on urban gardening, annual beds, a terrarium tip and a delicious recipe from the garden. As a bonus, seven Volunteer Gardener hosts – Troy Marden, Jeff Poppen, Annette Shrader, Phillipe Chadwick, Julie Berbiglia, Tammy Algood and Matt Kerske – will be in our studio staffing the phone bank during a live night of NPT’s March Membership Campaign.

To celebrate the new season, special thank-you gifts will be available when you make a donation to NPT, including autographed gardening books by Algood, Marden and Poppen; as well as NPT Tervis mugs and T-shirts.

During the marathon, Troy Marden will also share details on his upcoming tour of Tuscany. The trip runs from Oct. 15 to 26, 2017, and includes stops in Florence, Rome, Siena, Pisa and Assisi. With Gardener fans in mind, Marden has also packed the itinerary with visits to Renaissance-era gardens and private villas, as well as meals showcasing hill country specialties such as truffles, fresh olives, superb wines and wild boar. A portion of the proceeds from the Tuscany trip will support NPT and Volunteer Gardener. To learn more about participating in Marden’s fall Tuscany tour, click here.

Be sure to watch Volunteer Gardener Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on NPT and check out the show’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
