Tennessee’s history began with exploration, and that same adventurous spirit lives on today. World class explorers across our state are doing amazing research in many different types of science — creating new technologies and mentoring the next generation of explorers. Premiering tonight, July 5 at 8:00 p.m., Tennessee Explorers looks inside the brilliant minds leading us into the future. Think of it as Tennessee Crossroads meets NOVA, or a Crossroads of the mind.
Produced by Ed Jones (TN Civil War 150, Visions of the American West), tonight’s half-hour episode showcases the work of three Tennessee explorers: bio-anthropologist Tiffiny Tung, astrophysicist Keivan Stassun, and physician Rhea Seddon, one of NASA’s first female astronauts.
The National Science Foundation-funded Tennessee Explorers is a partnership between Vanderbilt University and Nashville Public Television.
