Knoxville’s Blake McMeans was a rising tennis star before his career was cut tragically short after a drunk driving accident. He has since dedicated his life to educating others on the dangers of drunk driving. UNDERAGE AND UNDER THE INFLUENCE, airing on Nashville Public Television and all Tennessee public television stations (check local listings) on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. CDT, combines his story with a half-hour discussion on the perils of drinking and driving. The program is produced by the Renaissance Center and made possible by the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
We’re trying to spread the word about Blake and the program, and have set up a Facebook group, The Friends of Blake McMeans. Members of this group offer to help spread the word about the program and further Blake’s mission of reaching out to people, young and old, and keeping many others from ever having to experience the consequences of drinking and driving.
As the group is built, we’ll add video from the program and updates on the screenings and educational sessions.
You can also visit the NPT Website to download graphics, advertising and both printable and email-able flyers.
There are plenty of ways to help spread the word. Join the group, e-mail this blog, post it to your Facebook profile or simple tell your friends. Let’s together prevent drinking and driving.

This story should be shown in all the schools to remind young people about the danger of drinking and driving.
I caught the tail end of the program and would like my grandchildren to see this. Will it be shown again?
Susan
I saw the entire program–it was incredible! It should be shown in all schools and even during ‘prime-time’ during the week. Blake’s story must be viewed by parents and children. I must show it to my students. How do I purchase it?
Brilliantly done and a compelling story.
Thanks all for the great comments. FYI, “UNDERAGE AND UNDER THE INFLUENCE: The Blake McMeans Story” airs again on Thursday, May 7 at 9:00 p.m. on NPT channel 8.
