If you haven’t been to the Frist Center yet to catch the fascinating clay sculptures of Sylvia Hyman, you’ve probably got a good excuse. Summer vacation maybe? Glued to your chair at work? Your car has broke down and it’s too far to walk to the museum in 95-degree heat? All legitimate excuses. If, however, you haven’t seen it because you just don’t think it will interest you, or you’re kind of on-the-fence about the whole thing, I have just the cure for your wishy-washy ills. Tonight (Thursday, August 2) on NPT-Channel 8 at 8:00 p.m., we’re proud to broadcast Curt Hahn’s excellent documentary about Hyman, Sylvia Hyman: Eternal Wonder. The half-hour documentary made its debut at this year’s Nashville Film Festival, and was a huge hit. We also posted a rather lengthy essay about the exhibit here when it opened.
Fictional Clay is on display at the Frist through October 7.
P.S. As wonderful as the exhibit is, I don’t recommend blowing off voting today to go see it. You can see it tomorrow. If, however, you’ve already satisfied your civic duty (I was in and out in less than five minutes this morning), then you must clearly be stuck to your chair, right?
