Several of us here at NPT were fortunate enough to the attend the performance (we do get out every now and then) of the Cleveland Symphony at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Monday, January 15. For many of us, it was our first visit to this amazing new Nashville landmark. The experience really begins before you even enter the state-of-the art Laura Turner Hall, as you marvel at the stunning architecture. You can’t possibly take it all in with one visit, so I’m sure we’ll be back.
The cafe and gift shop are open during the afternoon, so you can visit for lunch. The beverages and entrees were moderately priced, and you can’t miss with the salad trio (mine included lobster nicoise, pasta and cranberry turkey).
As far as the concert goes, the Cleveland Symphony’s performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major “Titan” under the direction of conductor Franz Welser-Möst was triumphant.
I’ll leave it to the knowledgeable writers at the Nashville Scene and the Tennessean to fill you in.
If you haven’t been yet, get down there.
Until next week.
