KEN BURNS' THE WAR TO BE THE STORY OF THE FALL

Plenty of reports are coming back from the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, and Ken Burns’ THE WAR — on NPT Channel 8 and PBS Stations nationwide this September — looks to be the story of the Fall.

Charlie McCollum at the San Jose Mercury News writes that THE WAR “is such an epic undertaking…that it eclipses anything else PBS will offer in the coming months.”

Barry Garron at the Hollywood Reporter writes the “The war over “The War” is over and a truce has been declared” referring to the call for more Latino representation in the documentary.

And how about this for fun? Garron also reports that Tom and Ray Magliozzi, Click and Clack on public radio’s “Car Talk,” “will bring their combination of humor and auto advice to PBS in summer 2008” and that “A total of 10 half-hour episodes of an animated series have been ordered.”

Hal Boedeker at the Orlando Sentinel quotes PBS President Paula Kerger saying the show will be “an animated, weekly prime-time version of the NPR series” that “will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen on PBS.”

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he actually bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.” by Oscar Fingall O’Flahertie Wills Wilde.
