On Thursday, Nov. 17, NPT, WPLN and Metro Nashville Public Schools will host an event featuring the Ken Burns-produced film Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness. Following a short film screening, WPLN’s Khalil Ekulona, host of “This Is Nashville,” will lead a panel discussion with Monica Coverson, MNPS Director of Social Work & Trauma Informed Schools; Will “Big Fella” Simms, MNPS parent and community leader; local students and others. Information regarding local youth and family resources for mental wellness will also be available during this event.

This event is free, but RSVPs are requested at wnpt.org/events. Refreshments will be served.

NPT partnered with NAMI and the Frist Art Museum to host an art studio event during the June 25, 2022, Teens Take the Frist! opening celebration. Two works created by students at the event have been incorporated into posters with QR codes linked to a list of mental health resources specifically tailored to young people and their families. These posters have been distributed to schools, teen centers in public libraries and other places where young people gather.
