NPT wins Midsouth Regional Emmy for ‘The Fight to Vote’

Nashville Public Television received an award for The Fight to Vote: Black Voter Suppression in Tennessee during the 36th Annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards held virtually on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022. NPT won in the documentary/historical category, with statuettes going to Ed Jones and Jason Code.

The Fight to Vote: Black Voter Suppression in Tennessee is about the challenges poor and Black people faced getting access to the ballot box in Tennessee and the South in the decades following the Civil War and beyond. Part of NPT’s Citizenship Project programs, the documentary premiered on Feb. 22, 2021, and is available to watch at pbs.org/video.

NPT also received nominations for Aging Matters: Disparities & Health Equity, Arts Break: Portrait Park, Facing North: Jefferson Street, Nashville and A Word on Words.
