Novelist Alka Joshi is new ‘A Word on Words’ co-host

A Word on Words new host, Alka Joshi

Readers, we have a new co-host. We are pleased to welcome novelist Alka Joshi to the A Word on Words team. Fans of the series may remember Joshi from her appearance last season when she discussed her novel The Henna Artist with her now co-host, J.T. Ellison.

A little about our new co-host. Born in India, Alka Joshi moved to the U.S. at the age of nine. She holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.F.A. from California College of Arts. Joshi published her first novel — the aforementioned The Henna Artist – in 2021; the book became a New York Times bestseller and is being developed into an episodic series by Netflix. Joshi is now working on the final book in the trilogy with an expected publication date of 2023.

Joshi‘s interview with Jessamine Chan, author of The School for Good Mothers, launches the seventh season of NPT’s Emmy-winning A Word on Words series. In addition to Chan, guests this season include Patti Callahan (Once Upon a Wardrobe), Bisi Adjapon (The Teller of Secrets), Jess Walter (The Cold Millions) and Todd Doughty (Little Pieces of Hope).

I am interested in talking with someone about my recently published book: Rubies in the Rubble: An Educator’s Transformation from Pain to Prominence, from Abuse to Absolution. The author, Jill Speering, is a 35 year educator in Nashville who also served for eight years on the Nashville School Board. I would like to know the procedure to submit my book for consideration for discussion on Word on Words.

Hi, Jill. Congrats! Production on this season’s A Word on Words episodes has just about wrapped, but your message has been forwarded to the team.
