Dear fans of A Word on Words, we have some news. Mary Laura Philpott, who along with J.T. Ellison has hosted the series for five seasons, is leaving the show. During her time as co-host, Philpott interviewed authors across genres in a variety of locations around Middle Tennessee – and then shifted to virtual interviews once the COVID-19 pandemic sent everyone home for lockdown in March of 2020. A Word on Words won a Midsouth Regional Emmy in its initial season and has remained popular with viewers, readers and authors ever since.
We’ll have news about the new co-host soon. For now, enjoy this special edition of A Word on Words in which Mary Laura is interviewed by J.T. about her favorite, most challenging and most memorable interviews. You’ll also hear a little about her plans, which include the publication of her second memoir-in-essays, Bomb Shelter, in spring 2022 (Atria).
