Good news for fans of Call the Midwife. Not only does a new season premiere on NPT and PBS stations on March 30, we’ll be bringing back the Vanderbilt School of Nursing midwives every Monday morning — following the Sunday night broadcast — for morning-after recaps and analysis. For the past two seasons, Michelle Collins PhD, CNM, and Margaret Buxton MSN CNM, guided by Kathy Rivers, Communications Director at VUMC/Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, have graciously provided historical and contemporary context on the show and created some fun discussion. As a bonus this year, we’ll also have occasional recaps by Rachel Sykes, who’s watched the show on the BBC and will provide a unique UK-perspective. Sykes, who did a practicum at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing in the summer 0f 2013, is a registered midwife and graduate from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Passionate about the midwifery profession and a keen advocate of normal birth, she currently practices in a busy maternity unit in the Northwest of England.
