NASHVILLE, Tennessee — February 23, 2011 — The Tennessee Public Television Council (TPTC), made up of Tennessee’s six public television stations including Nashville Public Television (NPT), presented State Senator Jamie Woodson and State Representative Harry Tindell with its Legislator of the Year Award recently in Nashville.

The state’s six public television stations are independent nonprofit organizations that together reach more than 98% of all Tennesseans including 650,000 households that do not have cable or satellite.

“We are truly honored and humbled to have the support of State Senator Jamie Woodson and State Representative Harry Tindell,” said Michael J. LaBonia, TPTC Chairman.  “Tennessee public television stations provide Tennesseans with free access to important local health issues, local programs that preserve and celebrate our unique Tennessee culture, and award winning educational programs and resources that assist children, parents and educators.  It’s the support of leaders like State Senator Woodson and State Representative Tindell that enables us to continue this important work.”
