Early voting began this week here in Davidson County and throughout the state. If you’re heading out to vote, in addition to taking your freedom of choice, voter registration card and/or Driver’s License with you, consider taking your video camera as well. YouTube is teaming up with PBS for Video Your Vote, a non-partisan program encouraging American voters to document their voting experiences. According to the special YouTube Channel, “whether it’s a video shot at the polls on Election Day, an account of your early voting experience, or you filming yourself filling out an absentee ballot — we want you to upload it here.”
The Video Your Vote channel will also include exclusive videos from voter registration experts, election reform activists, and state officials, as well as video footage from the PBS archives for a historical look at voting through the years.
The user-uploaded videos will provide a unique documentation of the voting experience, and some of the videos may even be broadcast on the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
