Going to see live music in Nashville often offers a great opportunity to interact with musicians and songwriters and talk to them about their art. At the Nashville Film Festival each year, visiting directors and producers give attendees the unique experience of talking directly to those people responsible for making films. Book readings and signings — especially at the upcoming Southern Festival of Books — bring you up close and personal with your favorite authors. With visual art, however, unless you’re at an opening, you often don’t have the chance to approach and question the creators. Nashville Area Arts has the solution, and it’s a great chance to meet local artists, learn more about their processes, and purchase artwork directly from them.
NAA is presenting A Nashville Artists Studio Tour on Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Over thirty private artists’ studios and workshops located throughout Davidson County will open their doors to the public for this one-day only event. Artists and groups participating in the tour include: Adrienne Outlaw, Chris Scarborough, Kelly Williams, Stacey Irvin, Alan LeQuire (a wonderful guest when NPT hosted our NOVA/Parthenon event earlier this year), John Guider, Annie Freeman, Joe Sorci, Myles Maillie, Toni Hooper, Brenda Stein, and the Plate Tone Printshop.
The evening before the tour, on Friday, September 12, 2008, from 6-9 p.m. at Belmont University’s Leu Center for the Visual Arts, NAA will host a Juried Studio Tour Preview Exhibition & Celebration.
