IT’S ALL ABOUT LITERACY THIS YEAR ON THE ‘STREET’

Anderson Cooper

Each season, the producers of Sesame Street discuss the educational needs of the show’s audience and often decide on a theme or focus, wrote Peter Johnson in USA Today. After 9/11, it was “resiliency.” For the past few years it’s been healthy eating. This season, which starts today, it’s literacy.

The Tennessean
has an amended version of the story as well. Kudos to them for the hip “word on the street” wordplay in the headline.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper is one of several celebrities that will be stopping by the Street this year. In an additional article by Johnson Cooper says that “I have a mild form of dyslexia, and I had a reading problem.

“So for me, Sesame Street was vital. Beyond what I learned in terms of ABC’s and counting, the sense of how one deals with other people is something that I got early on from Sesame Street.”
