THE WEEK'S GUIDE TO WHAT'S WORTH WATCHING

The January 19 issue of The Week Magazine taps two PBS shows airing on NPT-Channel 8 in its guide to “what’s worth watching.”

It’s SHOW OF THE WEEK is the FRONTLINE episode “HAND OF GOD” which we wrote about here last week. In HAND OF GOD, Filmmaker Joe Cultrera tells the personal story of faith betrayed and how his brother Paul and his family fought back against a scandal that continues to afflict scores of Catholic churches across the country. The Week says that it “unfolds like a detective story.” It airs on NPT-Channel 8 on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 8:00-9:30 p.m. CST.

THE WEEK also recommends the MASTERPIECE THEATRE presentation of Charlotte Bronte’s classic dark romance “Jane Eyre.” The magazine says, “Toby Stephens is suitably Byronic as the tempestuous Edward Rochester, but it’s the fresh-faced Ruth Wilson in the title role who anchors the production.” The two-part special airs on NPT-Channel 8, Sundays, January 21 and 28 at 8 p.m. CST.
