Nashville institution The Time Jumpers — whose DVD Jumpin’ Time broadcast premiered here on NPT, and when presented by NPT to American Public Television, went on to air on over a hundred public television stations throughout the country — were profiled this past Sunday in a wonderful article in the New York Times that not only focused on the band, but the changing face of the music industry and Nashville itself.
“And despite their evocations of distant eras, in some ways the Time Jumpers are oddly in tune with the present,” writes Peter Applebome in the article. “In Nashville, forever navigating the tension between the traditional and the contemporary, they’re part of a resurgence of live music that has made the local music scene more vital than it’s been in years.”
