Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight explores the life and loves of Emilie du Châtelet, a scientific genius of the 18th century. Women of her era were considered too simple-minded to understand mathematics or physics, but Emilie was a mathematician and a physicist. In the play, Emilie has returned from the afterlife to recount and defend her life.
