Lucy Negro Redux is an original ballet by Nashville Ballet inspired by the work of Nashville native Caroline Randall Williams. Created by Artistic Director/Choreographer Paul Vasterling, the ballet combines dance and Williams’ recitation of her poems, a theory that Shakespeare’s “Dark Lady” sonnets were about a woman of color. Grammy-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens composed and performs the score.
