Ivey has had a long successful career as as folklorist, musicologist and champion of the arts. He was the director of the Country Music Foundation from 1971 to 1998 before being named chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts from 1998 through 2001 during the Clinton Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Want to get to know Ivey a little more?<\/p>\n<p>Ivey joined <strong>John Seigenthaler<\/strong> a couple of months ago on a <em>A Word on Words<\/em> to discuss his book<strong> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucpress.edu\/books\/pages\/10151.php\">Arts, Inc.: How Greed and Neglect Have Destroyed Our Cultural Rights<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.
