The new daytime schedule begins Monday, March 30, and the featured programs will change each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re supplementing our educational content for younger\nkids that starts at 6 a.m. each day with additional educational programs aimed\nat older audiences,\u201d said Kevin Crane, NPT\u2019s president and CEO. \u201cFrom 10 a.m.\nto noon we\u2019ll be broadcasting programs that middle school students can enjoy,\nfrom noon to 2 p.m. will be for high school students. But really anyone can\nenjoy and learn from these PBS and NPT programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNashville Public Television is an essential partner in our city-wide strategic effort to support student learning,\u201d said Dr. Adrienne Battle, MNPS Director of Schools. \u201cWe are grateful to NPT for working with us to broadcast additional educational programming targeted to each of our age groups with relevant enrichment content.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of April 6, NPT will incorporate instructional programming from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.gov\/education\/news\/2020\/3\/25\/tdoe-announces-partnership-with-pbs-to-deliver-daily-instructional-content-for-tennessee-students.html\">Tennessee Department of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s an overview of NPT\u2019s \u201cAt Home Learning\u201d programming\nschedule (a searchable version of the station\u2019s schedule is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnpt.org\/schedule\/#page=schedule\">wnpt.org\/schedule<\/a>):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>6 a.m. to 10 a.m.: Children\u2019s\nprogramming<\/strong> with\nfavorites such as \u201cSesame Street,\u201d which offers literacy skills and social\nemotional learning; and \u201cMolly of Denali,\u201d a show that stresses using and\nunderstanding informational texts. \u201cDaniel Tiger\u2019s Neighborhood\u201d also provides\nsocial emotional learning. \u201cLet\u2019s Go Luna\u201d has a social-studies based\ncurriculum, and \u201cNature Cat\u201d and \u201cWild Kratts\u201d help children explore the\nnatural sciences. Note: children\u2019s programming resumes each weekday from 2 to 5\np.m. In addition, NPT3 PBS Kids will continue to offer 24\/7 children\u2019s\nprogramming at 8.3 over-the-air, Comcast 242, Charter 189 or 192 (depending on\narea) and Google Fiber 87 and online at <a href=\"wnpt.org:npt3\">wnpt.org\/npt3<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Programming\nsuitable for middle and high school students<\/strong> incorporates math and science in \u201cNOVA\u201d series \u201cThe\nPlanets\u201d and \u201cBreakthrough: The Ideas that Changed the World.\u201d Literature and\nlanguage arts are the topics of \u201cThe Great American Read\u201d; while history is\ncovered by NPT\u2019s own \u201cBy One Vote: Woman Suffrage in the South\u201d and \u201cAmerican\nExperience\u201d series like Ken Burns\u2019 \u201cThe Roosevelts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of NPT\u2019s programs are available to stream via <a href=\"https:\/\/video.wnpt.org\">video.wnpt.org<\/a> and the PBS Video app. However, not everyone has a fast internet connection, so broadcast is the best way to reach everyone, Crane said. \u201cWe want to make sure that all parents have access to educational programming for all ages,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional resources<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ideas for distance learning, with suggestions for both educators developing curricula and parents with children at home, is available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnpt.org\/health-wellness\/parents-teachers\/\">wnpt.org\/health-wellness\/parents-teachers<\/a>. This page includes information drawn from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tn.pbslearningmedia.org\/\">PBS Learning Media<\/a>, a website offering free lesson plans and video clips; as well as links to information and videos tailored to adults and children about staying calm during crises. Parents may also sign up for a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/parents\/pbskidsdaily\">PBS Kids newsletter<\/a> for ideas and activities delivered each weekday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A general information page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnpt.org\/health-wellness\/\">wnpt.org\/health-wellness<\/a>, includes links to reliable sources for COVID-19 updates, along with videos and other resources about talking to children.
