NPT\u2019s original documentary, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnpt.org\/cheekwood-masterpiece\/\">Cheekwood: A Masterpiece by Man &amp; Nature<\/a>,<\/strong> ventures behind the scenes for an in-depth look at the mansion and grounds. The 30-minute program premieres Thursday, June 22, at 8 p.m., and includes sweeping aerial views of the estate; original sketches by Cheekwood\u2019s architect, Bryant Fleming; and footage of the Cheek family\u2019s 1920s tours of Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x-ReFUkn7b4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cheekwood was built between 1929 to 1932 by Leslie and Mabel Cheek, as a house designed to look old though it featured innovative engineering. Today the estate survives as one of the few complete examples of the American Country Place Era, a magnificent blend of architecture, landscape and interior design. <strong>Cheekwood: A Masterpiece by Man &amp; Nature<\/strong> illuminates the estate\u2019s genesis in European aspirations that resulted in a uniquely American architectural movement.<\/p>\n<p>The documentary also analyzes the inspired aesthetic of Bryant Fleming, an architect who specialized in creating environments that seamlessly blended architecture and nature.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnpt.org\/cheekwood-masterpiece\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10100 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.wnpt.org\/mediaupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Cheekwood_015-1024x753.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"517\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.wnpt.org\/mediaupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Cheekwood_015-1024x753.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.wnpt.org\/mediaupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Cheekwood_015-300x221.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.wnpt.org\/mediaupdate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Cheekwood_015-768x564.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though there were changes that had happened to accommodate the new uses, the seven-acre core of that property was as the Cheeks and Fleming had imagined it,\u201d Charles A.
