Update June 24, 2009 2:05 Central. For the broadcast version of the program, confirmed guests joining the Levon Helm Band are Sam Bush, Sheryl Crow, John Hiatt, Buddy Miller, Billy Bob Thorton and Little Sammie Davis.

LEVON HELM: RAMBLE AT THE RYMAN, originally scheduled to air on NPT this Sunday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m., has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m. replacing Okie Noodling I and II.

Taped in September 2008 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, LEVON HELM: RAMBLE AT THE RYMAN kicked off the Americana Music Association Festival and Conference and was simply magnificent. I’m not sure what will make the final broadcast, but the Levon Helm Band (including the great Larry Campbell) was joined by an all-star lineup of friends, including Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Steve Earle, Allison Moorer, Sheryl Crow, Delbert McClinton, Billy Bob Thornton, Buddy Miller, Sam Bush and John Hiatt.

I have no control over these production decisions, but fingers crossed that they keep Buddy Miller’s performance of his own “Wide River to Cross,” which Helm covered on Dirt Farmer. It was gorgeous.

Meanwhile, as I was on Helm’s site looking for photos from the show, I came across this one. I couldn’t resist, that’s me in the lower right hand corner facing the camera!
