The Renaissance Center in Dickson will host a free screening of the award-winning documentary Living On: Tennesseans Remembering the Holocaust this weekend on Saturday, March 3. Following the screening will be a question-and-answer session featuring the film’s producer Will Pedigo, photographer Robert Heller and two Nashvillians who fled Nazi Germany during World War II.

The free screening of the 70-minute documentary begins at 5 p.m. in the Performance Hall of the center.

Living On: Tennesseans Remembering the Holocaust, follows the Tennessee Holocaust Commission as it interviewed survivors and liberators in preparation for the exhibit, Living On: Portraits of Tennessee Survivors and Liberators, a traveling exhibition sponsored by the Tennessee Holocaust Commission, that is on display at the Renaissance Center until April 29. The one-hour film originally aired on Nashville Public Television and received three Emmy nominations, winning for best Topical Documentary 2005.

“Working with the Living On project continues to be a life changing experience,” Pedigo said when the exhibit returned to Middle Tennessee last January. “Beyond its initial broadcast, we have often taken this program to the exhibit to be an accompanying element, offering public screenings across the state at universities, public schools and museums.”

Last week on Tennessee Crossroads, Ed Jones gave viewers a little history lesson on Nashville’s Civil War history with a trip to Fort Negley. You can watch the segment online in the Tennessee Crossroads Online Video section. This weekend, Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell will lead an interactive walk at the site, complete with selections from a drama about slavery performed by the Metro Parks department and Sistastyle Productions. The walk begins at 9 a.m. at the trailhead off Fort Negley Blvd. near Edgehill Avenue. The event is free.
